Spring & GigaSpaces (what I have been up to)

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

I have been a bit silent for the past two months or so but it does not mean that I have not been busy :). I have been spear heading the development of an exciting new project here at GigaSapces called OpenSpaces.

The project at its core takes the concepts of GigaSpaces SBA and Processing Unit and makes them real. If you are not familiar with this concepts, here you can find an excellent white paper describing them called: “The Scalability Revolution - From Dead End to Open Road”. It has been a real challenge getting this abstract concepts and making them a reality and I must say, this work, on top of GigaSpaces current product, is going to change the way we work (and of course, I am not biased at all).

There is no formal release of OpenSpaces yet, but I can tell you that it is heavily based on Spring and basically simplify writing and deploying a Grid based Spring application using the power of JavaSpaces. I am sure that our many customers that already use Spring and GigaSpaces are going to love it ;).

We are starting to get the word out. Guy Nirpaz, our VP R&D is going to talk about this at his session at QCon. Myself and Nati (our CTO) are going to be at TSS and talk about it a bit more. If you are attending one of this conferences, stop by our booth and attend the session, I assure you, this is really exciting stuff.
