Compass 2.0 and Java 5

Work has been started on Compass 2.0 and there is already some very good progress (currently it is called 1.3, but I will change it soon). While working on Compass 2.0, I am asking the community of Compass if there is a strong resistance in moving Compass to only work with Java 1.5. What say you?

    Hi,

No objections from me. JDK 5 was released more than 3 years ago and users who still cannot use it can simply use Compass 1.2.

Also, according to the discussions on the Lucene mailing list, it seems like Lucene 3.0 (after 2.3 and the transitional 2.9) will include JDK 5 features.

    Do it!

    Okay with me.

Great idea. Java 1.5 with annotations and generics has made java easier to use. Compass can benefit greatly from it.

    OK with me.

    No objections from me.
